Abstract: In order to screen out new varieties of colorful leaf plants suitable for planting in saline soil in Tianjin, the relative plant heights, relative crown width, relative basal diameter and relative DBH in light saline soil were determined by using the Ulmus pumila varietas, Pyrus calleryana and Cercis canadensis Forest Pansy. The results showed that: from analysis of relative growth of plant height, Ulmus pumila varietas(0.49 m)was the largest, followed by Pyrus calleryana(0.42 m)and the lowest was Cercis canadensis Forest Pansy(0.35 m); from analysis of relative growth of width, Pyrus calleryana(21.76 cm)was the largest, followed by Cercis canadensis Forest Pansy(17.06 cm)and Ulmus pumila varietas(10.42 cm)was the smallest; from analysis of relative growth of base diameter, Pyrus calleryana(2.28 cm)was the largest, followed by Ulmus pumila varietas (1.21 m), and Cercis canadensis Forest Pansy(1.07 cm)was the smallest; from analysis of relative growth of DBH, Pyrus calleryana(1.78 cm)was the largest, Ulmus pumila varietas(1.22 cm)was the second, and Cercis canadensis Forest Pansy(1.04 cm)was the smallest. The comprehensive analysis of membership function showed that Pyrus calleryana is more suitable to grow on mild saline land in Wuqing district.
