Abstract: Stress reaction is an adaptive response of all living organism to stressful events, and it has important significance for their survival. The main feature of stress reaction is activation of the hypothalamus- pituitary- adrenal axis (HPA axis). Abundant glucocorticoid receptor expressed in the hippocampus, amygdala and hypothalamus. Glucocorticoid receptor plays a crucial role in regulating the HPA axis' activity. The function of GR can be regulated by MR, 11βHSDs and GR's polymorphism.

Key words: stress, hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis, glucocorticoid receptor, regulation
