Abstract: In order to study the effect of transport on dogs, Labrador retrievers were chosen and blood was collected before transport andafter 2-hour transport. Then serum cortisol, adrenocorticotropic hormone and biochemical indices were determined. The results showed: the concentration of cortisol and the activity of glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (AST) were significantly increased after transport (P<0.05). The activity of Creatine kinase (CK) was significantly increased (P<0.01). Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), alanine transaminase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), glucose (GLU) had no significant difference (P>0.05). In conclusion, 2-hour transport stress can induce the change of serum cortisol, AST and CK of Labrador retriever.
