Abstract: A bacterium strain was isolated and purified from the hepatopancreas of healthy Ruditapes philippinarum and named G6. This bacterium strain was identified as Bacillus subtilis according to the results of morphological observation, physiological and biochemical characteristics, 16S rDNA sequence, and phylogenetic analysis. Its biological characteristics were studied, including growth curve, resistance to high temperature, acid, and bile salt. Results showed that the strain G6 had a long growth period and a stationary phase from 26 to 34 h and was resistant to high temperature, acid, and bile salt. This report provided a scientific base for application of G6 as the probiotic for aquatic animals.
