Abstract: In order to explore the effects of different environmental factors on the growth and phosphorus utilization of Chlorella vulgaris, the growth, phosphorus utilization and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of C. vulgaris under different salinity, biomass, phosphorus concentration, and pH were investigated in this work. The results showed that the specific growth rate of algae, the maximum light energy conversion efficiency(Fv/Fm), the actual light energy conversion efficiency(ΦPSII), the potential activity(Fv/F0)and the phosphorus adsorption efficiency showed a tendency to rise first and then decrease with the increase of salinity, and the photosynthetic activity and phosphorus adsorption efficiency of the algae were the best at salinity of 15. The adsorption efficiency of phosphorus by algae increased first and then decreased with the increase of algal density and pH, and the adsorption efficiency was best when the algal density was 0.75×106 cells/mL and the pH was 7. Moreover, the adsorption kinetics of algae on phosphorus showed that within 1 h of the initial stage of adsorption, the phosphorus adsorption efficiency of C. vulgaris could reach 61%, which was a rapid adsorption period. Therefore, C. vulgaris has the highest growth rate, the highest photosynthetic activity and the highest phosphorus adsorption efficiency at salinity of 15, pH 7 and algal density of 0.75×106 cells/mL.
