Abstract: Poverty alleviation is a bottom-line task that must be accomplished in order to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects. Cooperation between the eastern and western regions in poverty alleviation is an important strategic measure to ensure victory in the battle against poverty and complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects. Colleges and universities have unique advantages in assisting the cooperation between the eastern and western regions in poverty alleviation, and play an important role in strongly boosting the five major areas of poverty alleviation. Featured models such as “poverty alleviation+colleges+will and wisdom” and “government+colleges+market” have been formed. Colleges and universities should deepen reform, establish close cooperation mechanisms with the government, enterprises, agricultural cooperatives and farmers, improve the long-term mechanism of poverty alleviation cooperation between the eastern and western regions, and give targeted support to such cooperation. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the effectivelink between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization strategies should be strengthened to help people in the western region out of poverty and lead a more prosperous life.
