Abstract: In order to establish a callus induction system of North American begonia, the leaves, stems and petioles of North American begonia tissue culture seedlings were used as explants, and callus induction was carried out on medium containing different concentrations of 2,4-D. Loose callus induction was performed on medium with different concentrations of 2,4-D, BA, and GA3. The results showed that the callus induction rate of petiole explants was 100.0%; the callus growth was the fastest on 2,4-D medium with concentration of 2.0 mg/L. And on MS+30.0 g/L sucrose+100.0 mg/L Vc+1.0 mg/L 2,4-D+0.5 mg/L BA+1.0 mg/L GA3, the callus with loose structure and fastest growth rate can be induced.
