Advances in Acupuncture and Moxibustion Therapy for Hind Limb Paralysis in Dogs

Abstract: Canine hind limb paralysis is a common case in animal clinical medicine, which mostly due to lumbar nerve function not completely. It is treated mainly by conservative medicine or surgical treatment in western medicine, while in traditional Chinese medicine, it is mainly through various kinds of acupuncture, which mainly includes white needle, electric needle, water needle, fire needle, blood needle, temperature needle, magnetic needle and laser. The nerve conduction is dredged through stimulation of meridians and acupoints in these therapy, but which mechanisms are not exactly the same. This paper briefly describes the effects of various acupuncture therapy on the paralysis of the hind limbs of dogs, and probes into the mechanism of action, which provides a reference for the research and treatment of such diseases in clinic.
