Abstract: In order to investigate the application value of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique in detection of pathogenic bacteria in piglets, pigs’ stomach, intestinal contents as disease materials from a pig farm in Tianjin area were expected to isolate and cultivate the pathogenic bacteria and test the drug sensitivity. Universal primes were designed to detect 16S rRNA sequences from isolated bacteria by using PCR method and the results were analyzed by the biological software BLAST. The results show that the pathogenic bacteria was a multiple drug resistant type Escherichia coli. A rapid clinical method of detecting colibacillosis of piglet was found in this study.
