Abstract: This study was conducted to compare differences in salt tolerance of different maize and to construct the measuring system for evaluating identification indexes of salt tolerance in maize seedlings. Some traits and physiological indexes were measured under constant concentration of salt stress. Furthermore, membership function values were adopted to analyze salt tolerance of different species. The results show that subjection values of salt toxicity coefficient of germination ratio, seedling height, root length, leaf K+/Na+, root relative water content, seedling fresh weight, root fresh weight, seedling dry weight and root dry weight increased gradually with the increase of the sum subjection values, and they were positively correlated with the sum subjection values significantly. Based on the salt pool experiments, it is initially determined that root length, root fresh weight, root dry weight, seedling fresh weight, seedling dry weight, leaf K+/Na+ and germination ratio can be used to assess the salt tolerance of maize in seedling stage.
