Abstract: In order to comprehensively evaluate the quality differences of different melon varieties, this paper used the fruits of three different thin-skinned melon varieties ‘Lvbaoshi No. 2’ ‘Yangjiaomi’ and ‘Boyang No. 9’ cultivated in facilities in Xiqing District of Tianjin as test materials, the appearance characters(fruit shape, size, weight, fruit shape index, peel color, fruit hardness, pulp thickness and peel thickness)and quality traits(soluble sugar, titratable acid, sugar acid ratio, vitamin C, soluble solids and sensory evaluation)of melon were measured. The principal component analysis method was used to comprehensively evaluate the fruit quality, and screen the melon varieties suitable for planting in Xiqing District, Tianjin. The results showed that after factor analysis and based on the principle that the eigenvalue is greater than 1, two main factors were extracted from thin-skinned muskmelon, and the cumulative variance contribution rate reached 100%. The comprehensive score model of factor analysis showed that the comprehensive score ranking of thin-skinned melon is ‘Yangjiaomi’ ‘Boyang No. 9’ and ‘Lvbaoshi No. 2’. This study can provide a basis for the selection of melon varieties under facility cultivation in Tianjin.
