Screening and Identification of New Combinations of Fresh-eating Waxy Corn

Abstract: In order to screen out the suitable varieties of fresh-eating waxy corn in Tianjin area, it is identified and evaluated the yield, growing period, agronomic traits, appearance qualities and eating qualities of the 15 combinations participating in the preliminary tests of Tianjin in 2012. By sowing, recording the data of field investigation, analyzing the agronomic characters and yield of different varieties after harvest, and evaluating the sensory qualities, cooking qualities of these 15 combinations by the members of the evaluation team, the combinations of good eating qualities were screened out. The results indicate that the waxy corn 2, 3 and 5 are the ideal combinations to be worthy of widely extending in Tianjin area.
