Abstract: General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed at the National Conference on Ideological and Political Work in Universities in 2016 that ideological and political work in colleges and universities should be done well, and should be improved by events. This article mainly explored the path of improving the effectiveness of ideological and political courses in colleges and universities through “Progress with the Times”: following the pace of the times and improving teacher literacy; adapting to the development of the times and improving teaching methods; listening to the voice of the times and enriching teaching content; grasping the pulse of the times and building a discourse system.
