Abstract: By using seed washing and PDA plate methods, the seed borne fungi 16 varieties of lettuce seeds from Beijing were detected and the dominant microflora was identified preliminarily. The results indicated that Alternaria spp.(82.8%), Aspergillus spp.(13.7%), Penicillium spp.(4.4%)and Fusarium spp.(1.8%)were the dominant microflora of dry seeds and the germ-bearing rate of seeds was 95.2%. The germ-bearing rate of seeds washed with sterile water reduced to 89.1% and the dominant microflora were Alternaria spp. (73.2%), Aspergillus spp.(17.1%), Penicillium spp.(7.2%) and Fusarium spp.(2.5%). The germ-bearing rate of seeds treated by 1% NaClO was 72.2% and the dominant microflora of seeds sterilized in 1% NaClO were Alternaria spp.(75.6%), Penicillium spp.(10.8%)and Fusarium spp.(5.2%).
