Abstract: Urban-rural integration constitutes a core strategy for addressing urban-rural developmental imbalances and advancing Chinese modernization, which effectively facilitates the two-way flow of urban and rural factors and fosters integrated development. As vital carriers connecting academic research and grassroots practice, disseminating agricultural technologies, and bridging urban-rural knowledge gaps, agricultural journals are highly consistent with the goals of urban-rural integration. Based on statistical data, journal monitoring records, typical cases, and research samples from 2024 to 2025, this paper systematically explores the practical dilemmas of agricultural journals under the context of urban-rural integration and reveals their underlying institutional, resource, technological, and value-based causes. It proposes optimization paths covering resource allocation, content supply, digital communication, institutional mechanisms, and policy coordination. By breaking the urban-centred monopoly of academic resources, activating the two-way circulation of urban and rural factors, and reshaping the grassroots service functions of journals, this study aims to promote the high-quality development of agricultural journals and achieve coordinated progress with urban-rural integration.
Key words: urban-rural integration, agricultural journals, high-quality development, rural revitalization
