Abstract: The study was conducted to understand the effect of Forsythia suspensa, Coptidis rhizoma, Andrographis paniculata on the blood antioxidant function in Cynoglossus semilaevis. A factorial experiment was designed to evaluate the blood parameters(the total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD), total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC), catalase(CAT), malonaldehyde(MDA), triglyceride(TG), total cholesterol(T-CHO))in C. semilaevis after 7 days, 14 days and 21 days. Fish were fed diets containing different doses of F. suspensa, C. rhizoma, A. paniculata(0, 5, 10, 15 g/kg). The results, diet supplemented with 5 g/kg F. suspensa resulted in significantly highest T-SOD activity after 14 days, diet supplemented with 5 g/kg of F. suspensa resulted in significantly highest CAT activity 21 days, diet supplemented with 15 g/kg F. suspensa resulted in significantly lower MDA content than the control group after 14 days. Diet supplemented with 15 g/kg C. rhizoma resulted in significantly highest T-SOD activity after 14 days. Diet supplemented with 15 g/kg of C. rhizoma resulted in significantly higher T-AOC activity than the control group after 21 days. Diet supplemented with 10 g/kg A. paniculata resulted in significantly highest T-SOD activity, CAT activity and T-AOC activity after 14 days. Diet supplemented with 5 g/kg A. paniculata resulted in significantly lower MDA content than the control group after 21 days. Diet supplemented with 10 g/kg A. paniculata resulted in significantly higher T-CHO content and TG content than the control group after 7 days. The results indicated that F. suspensa, C. rhizoma, A. paniculata added individually had different degrees of influences on blood antioxidant parameters in C. semilaevis.
