Abstract: To investigate the effects of Houttuynia cordata Thunb on some immune indexes in the gill of Koi carp artificially infected with Aeromonas veronii, ninety-six koi were randomly divided into two groups. Group C was fed with the diet supplemented with 6‰ Houttuynia cordata Thunb, and group K was fed with the basal diet as the control. After 14 days of feeding, Aeromonas veronii was artificially infected through the abdominal cavity on an empty stomach for 24 h. Samples were collected at 0, 1, 2, 4 days to detect inflammatory factors(Il-4, Il-10)and immunoglobulin(IgT)in the gill. The results showed as follows: there were no significant differences in the contents of IL-4, IL-10 and IgT in group K at four time periods(P>0.05). IL-4 content in group C was significantly higher than that in group 0 and 4 at 1 and 2 days(P<0.05), and was higher than that in group K; IL-10 contents at 1, 2 and 4 d was were significantly higher than that at 0 d(P<0.05), and was higher than that in K group. The IgT content at 1 d and 2 d was higher than that at 4 d and was significantly higher than that at 0 d(P<0.05)and the IgT content in group C was higher than that in group K at 1 d and 2 d. These results indicated that Houttuynia cordata Thunb feeding could improve the gill immunity of bacterial infected koi carp.
