Abstract: Profilin which was first discovered in 1976 was one of the earliest actin binding proteins, and has been widely studied because of its important biological role. Profilin1 is the most ubiquitous subtype because it can bind actin to regulate the polymerization of the cytoskeleton. Many recent studies have shown that Profilin1 also plays an important role in cancer and human diseases. This review mainly introduced the biological role of Profilin1, further explained its regulatory mechanism on the cytoskeleton, and discussed on the physiological and pathological role of Profilin1 in cancer and human diseases.
