Research progress of the effects of biochar on physicochemical properties of soil and growth of maize

Abstract

Abstract: Porosity, high cation exchange capacity（CEC）and low bulk density are main features of biochar, and it has a positive effect on improvement of soil properties and crop growth. The characteristics of biochar was analyzed, the influence of biochar on soil properties and growth of maize was discussed and biochar application in the future was given in the paper. The huge potential of biochar in the agricultural fields was also illustrated. Our principal objective in this paper was to provide relevant references for the research about the impacts of biochar on soil properties and growth of maize .
