Abstract: This paper aimed at improving the in vitro rooting technology of North American Begonia. The effects of two kinds of culture medium, two kinds of culture environment and two kinds of stem length on the rooting of North American Begonia micro shoot were studied respectively. The results showed that the rooting rate of the Begonia plantlet in soil supporting medium was 84.4%, which was significantly higher than that in agar medium. There was no significant difference in the stem length between the two media. The rooting rate of the micro shoot cultivated in the field environment reached 90.6%, which was not significantly different from that in the incubation chamber. There was no significant difference in rooting rate and root length between the treatment of short stem section(5-10 mm)and long stem section(15-20 mm), but the stem length of long stem section treatment was significantly higher than that of short stem section treatment. The results of this study will provide a basis for improving the rooting technology and reducing the cost of North American begonia plantlet in vitro.
