A comparative study of college students’ online and offline learning engagement in the context of digital education

Abstract: In the context of digital education, offline and online teaching have become two important and parallel teaching styles in the field of higher education. Under different teaching styles, the status and influencing factors of college students’ offline and online learning engagement are worth exploring. Through a survey of 1 945 students, this study found that college students’ offline and online learning engagement were above average, and offline learning engagement was significantly better than online learning engagement, and model of offline learning engagement was different from the model of online learning engagement; girls’ offline learning behavior engagement, online total learning engagement, online learning behavior engagement and online learning emotional engagement were significantly better than boys’ learning engagement; there were both similarities and differences in the influencing factors of offline and online learning. Finally, corresponding countermeasures and suggestions were put forward according to the differences of college students’ offline and online learning engagement and influencing factors.
