Abstract: Anaerobic biohydrogen production from food waste converts municipal waste to clear energy and thus this technology is benefit for the resource recycling of food waste. This paper introduced the mechanisms of biohydrogen production, and discussed the influence factors of anaerobic biohydrogen production on the aspects of hydrogen production bacteria, operational parameters and inhibitors. The pilot-scale study of biohydrogen production process from food waste had already been reported, while it was still attractive to obtain the high-efficient, stable and continuous-operational performance for hydrogen production process from food waste.

Key words: food waste, hydrogen production, anaerobic fermentation, process control, inhibitors
