Research progress of human fecal treatment technologies

Abstract

Abstract: With the comprehensive and continuous promotion of the toilet revolution in China, the harmless and resourceful treatment of human feces has become a focus of attention. Common treatment methods of human feces, such as aerobic composting, anaerobic fermentation and insect transformation methods, were reviewed within the paper. The rational use of exogenous additives（e.g., agricultural waste, microbial inoculum）in human feces treatment process was summarized. On this basis, the outlook on the efficient treatment and utilization of human feces was presented, aiming to provide technical references for the promotion of toilet reform and national rural revitalization strategy.
