Abstract: In septemper 2015, the obvious lesion tissues and organs were isolated under sterile conditions from suspicious piglet edema disease from a large scale pig farm in Tianjin. Comprehensive diagnoses which included bacteria separation and culture, microscopy, biochemical tests and viral culture were performed. Considering the epidemiological investigation, clinical symptoms and pathological changes, it was confirmed that infected pigs suffered from piglet edema disease caused by Escherichia coli. The drug sensitivity test revealed that the isolated bacterial strain was highly sensitive to cefazolin and doxycycline. The diagnosis results provide the reference for rapid diagnosis and clinical medication of the piglet edema disease.
