Abstract: :Selecting the seeds of Echinacea purpurea as the objects, the germination rates were analyzed by soaking in warm water at 37 ℃ after 7 days stored at 4 ℃, soaking in boric acid, soaking in indole acetic acid(IAA), soaking in ethanol of different concentration combined with 37 ℃warm water, and seeding directly. The results show that soaking in warm water at 37 ℃ after 7 days stored at 4 ℃, soaking in boric acid and in indole acetic acid(IAA)can improve the germination rate. The seed germination of soaking in IAA(40 mg·L-1)was the highest(97.5%), followed by soaking in 0.1% boric acid (93.3%), and soaking in warm water at 37 ℃ after 7 days stored at 4 ℃ by 12 h(92.7%), respectively. The seed germination rate of vermiculite substrate(89%)was higher than that of the peat substrate(76%)when seeding directly in the greenhouse. In conclusion, seeding directly in the greenhouse should select the vermiculite, and before sowing in the field, the seeds should be soaked in IAA(40 mg·L-1)for 24 h.
