The extraction of tomato pigment and the development of lipstick

Abstract: To make the natural tomato pigment lipstick, tomato pigment was the main raw material of pigment. Single factor analysis and orthogonal design experiments were used to determine the optimal condition for ultrasound-assisted extraction of tomato pigment. The optimal condition was that the ratio of solid to liquid was 1∶6, extraction time was 25 min, ultrasonic extraction power was 198 W and extraction temperature was 60℃. The yield of tomato pigment was the highest under the optimal condition. The optimal formula of lipstick was 34% tomato pigment, 22% natural sweet almond base oil, 18% refined shea butter, 15% alkannin pigment, 6% food grade beeswax and 5% food grade candelilla wax. At last, the major microorganisms and heavy metal contents of the lipstick were tested according to national standard. It was indicated that the lipstick was safe and healthy. The natural tomato pigment lipstick had smooth texture, suitable color, good hardness, and strong moisturizing degree.
