Abstract: East-west cooperation is a major strategic initiative of the CPC Central Committee to promote coordinated regional development and common prosperity. The year 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of east-west cooperation and the first year of regularized assistance. Based on the innovative practice of Tianjin Agricultural University, this paper systematically reviews the main approaches and outcomes of agricultural universities in empowering east-west cooperation through science and technology. From three dimensions—goal transformation, model innovation, and subject reshaping—it identifies a collaboration model characterized by “top-level planning, seed dissemination, whole-chain integration, platform empowerment, talent support, and ethnic integration”. It also proposes recommendations for further deepening and upgrading east-west cooperation from four directions: deepening whole-chain empowerment, expanding collaboration dimensions, upgrading collaboration forms, and strengthening collaboration resilience, with a view to providing references for agricultural universities participating in east-west cooperation during the regularized assistance phase.

Key words: east-west cooperation, agricultural universities, technology empowerment, Tianjin Agricultural University
