Abstract: To study and implement the spirit of the 19^th National Congress of the Party and fully grasp the scientific theoretical system of Xi Jinping’s socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. Firstly, the social and historical conditions of this important thought must be clarified: the foundation is that the basic national conditions and international status have not changed fundamentally; it is based on the new historical orientation of China’s development and the important changes in the major social contradictions; the condition of the times is the great development, great change and great adjustment of the world situation. Secondly, its core meaning must be accurately understood, that is, to adhere to and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, from the aspects of the inheritance and development of the theoretical content, the continuity and practicality of the basic strategy, the rich connotation of Xi Jinping’s socialism thought with Chinese characteristics in the new era is explored. Finally, the important position and interrelationship of the party’s basic theory, basic line and basic strategy is demonstrated, in order to better lead the healthy development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
