Abstract: Photothermal materials are widely used in fields such as biomedicine, environmental governance, and solar energy utilization, so developing new types of photothermal materials is of great significance. A large number of dyes and pigments are regarded as potential photothermal materials due to their special structures, but there is a lack of systematic research. In this study, the photothermal effects of seven common dyes were investigated, and the dyes with good photothermal effects under the irradiation of four wavelengths of laser were screened. At the same time, taking the screened out methyl orange, which has a relatively excellent photothermal effect under the irradiation of a 980 nm wavelength laser, as an example, the effects of the test distance and solution concentration on the photothermal effect were studied.

Key words: methyl orange, bromocresol green, xylenol orange, photothermal effect, dye
