Abstract: The cultivation of college students’ autonomous English reading ability has become a hot topic in today’s college English teaching. Based on the theory of PAVLOVICH on multi-dimensional reflection, this study designed a framework of reflective e-journal together with regular reading tests, and applied them to the cultivation of students’ autonomous English reading ability. After one-semester teaching practice, students’ levels of reflection have been raised, and students’ autonomous English reading ability in respect of self-efficacy, reading strategy, learning management, learning solution, learning evaluation has been significantly improved, and thus it confirms the feasibility and effectiveness of the teaching practice of “testing—self- reflection—autonomous learning”.

Key words: testing for learning, reflection dimension, reflective journal, autonomous English reading ability
