Abstract: Green manure plants have high nutrient content. Overturning green manure crops is conducive to improving soil quality, cultivating good farming soil, and improving crop quality. It also has certain synergistic effects on improving soil physical and chemical properties, improving fertilizer utilization, and promoting crop growth. With the fresh green plant body as a fertilizer base, green manure is a natural green pollution-free fertilizer formed by directly or indirectly compressing fresh samples of the plant body into the soil to release nutrients into the soil after its decay and decomposition instead of fertilizer for the growth of the main crop, or by intercropping the green fertilizer crop with the main crop, to provide nutrients for the main crops, promote the growth and development of the main crops, and and improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil. In this paper, the characteristics of green manure crops were analyzed, and the effects of green manure crops on soil physical and chemical properties and fertilizer utilization rate were discussed. The future research directions and prospects of green manure were expected, indicating that green manure has great potential in agricultural development. The development potential is to provide reference for the research on the effects of green manure on crop production.
